Keyboard shortcuts

Keys for navigating and marking up a report, in the app or the browser.

The report has keyboard shortcuts for moving through quotes and marking them up. They are inactive while you are typing in a text field, and the quote keys act only while the Quotes lens is open — /, ?, Escape, [, ], \ and m work wherever they are listed below.

There are two ways to move. j and k step through the quotes in reading order, whatever the layout: they are the only keys that reach every quote, so "work through the lot, starring as I go" is a job for j. The arrows move by what you can see — ↓ goes to the card drawn below, ← and → to the ones either side — and do not wrap at the edges of the grid, where the keypress falls through to the page so ordinary scrolling still works. In a single column the two are the same thing; they part company once the window is wide enough for a second column.

The Quotes menu carries Next Quote, Previous Quote and the selection commands with no keys of their own. They move in reading order, like j and k, not by geometry.
